TRAINING DIVISION MISSION STATEMENT: Keeping the citizens of Long Beach and its firefighters safe thru fundamental and advanced training, building firefighter confidence, and instilling a sense of departmental and self pride

   

The Long Beach Fire Department prides itself as being a training oriented department.  Students are regularly instructed through classes given in-house by Associate State Fire Academy Instructors and instruction at the State Fire Academy in Jackson.  In 2008 alone, over 6,500 hours (classes) have been scheduled and assigned to firefighters throughout the department.  The LBFD also is a leader in implementing a semi-annual incumbent physical agilities exam which holds our firefighters to a physical standard and encourages physical fitness.
