Message from the Chief of Police
To All Long Beach Residents,
As we at the Long Beach Police Department prepare our annual report to conclude 2004, and examine our Department activities for the year, we find ourselves continually re-engineering the Department to meet the law enforcement needs of our community.
Since being appointed Chief in July of 2002, I have witnessed the recent history of the Department and have had the good fortune to have been part of the high level of service the Long Beach Police Department provides to the City of Long Beach. I believe this Annual Report reflects the continuing operations and activity of an exceptional police department.
Each year the process of producing our Annual Report provides the Department with the opportunity to evaluate our activities, assess our progress, and generally take an honest look at ourselves to determine if we are providing the level of service expected by our community. To provide and maintain a high level of police service requires the effort and dedication of an exceptional group of people. The women and men who work as officers and employees of the Long Beach Police Department are just such a group of people. Their dedication to the community and hard work in providing police and law enforcement service in Long Beach is reflected year after year in the Department’s annual report. This year is no exception.
We, at the Police Department, never forget that our success depends upon our community partnerships and the assistance we receive from members of the community. It is only with the assistance of the community that we can continue to offer the police service that helps to improve the quality of life for all citizens of Long Beach.
