Long Beach Police Department Historian
As the City of Long Beach celebrates its 100 Year Anniversary we would like to make note that no police department is complete without its historian. The Long Beach Police Department is no exception - we are fortunate to have Mr. George Rishel. Mr. George, who is a life long resident of Long Beach and has been here nearly as long as the city itself, has had a long running association with the Department. During the late 1970's and early 1980's Mr. George served as Chief of the Reserves and Range Master. Mr. George, now 84 years young, comes by the Department nearly every afternoon. He brings with him a wealth of knowledge and a first hand history of the City of Long Beach.
On 4 February 2005 Mr. George underwent bypass surgery. We wish Mr. George a speedy recovery and look forward to the day when he will once again grace our hallways.
