LBPD Reorganization
The Long Beach Police Department has embarked on a new program to become a State of Mississippi Certified Department (Department of Law Enforcement Standards) and a C.A.L.E.A. recognized Department. This program is designed to ensure that policy conforms with State of Mississippi requirements and the Department becomes Certified within the provided time limit and once certified, maintains this certification.
In addition, the Long Beach Police Department has added a Management Information Section which is a support unit responsible for the design, implementation, integration, maintenance and control of information systems for the Department. Additionally, the Management Information Section coordinates these information resources with other law enforcement partners.
The re-engineering of the Department’s Command Structure was completed in 2004. This re-engineering effort has created three (3) bureaus’; Operational Services, Support Services and the Office of the Chief.
